In an effort to support the charitable efforts of the more than 600 member attorneys, the Lackawanna Bar Association has established a separate 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, the Lackawanna Bar Foundation. The mission of the Lackawanna Bar Foundation is to promote access to justice and to strive to enhance community understanding of the legal system through education and law related projects in Northeastern Pennsylvania.
On Thursday, March 15, 2012, The Lackawanna Bar Foundation and The Commonwealth Medical College presented "An Examination of Medical Ethical Litigation Issues" in the auditorium of TCMC. In an effort to enhance the educational experience for medical school students through exposure to the litigation aspect of medicine and to educated the general public, a series of vignettes involving medical ethical litigation was presented.
