

The Lackawanna Bar Association recently held its 31st Annual Bench Bar Conference at the Hilton Scranton & Conference Center. The day began with lunch and exhibits from local vendors. The 2012 Composite of LBA members was unveiled. The first hour had 3 breakout sessions: Civil Law Update presented by Edwin A. "Chip" Abrahamsen Jr., Esq.; Criminal Law Update presented by John H. "Shane" Scanlon, Esq. and Health Care Reform Update: The Impact of the Supreme Court Deceision presented by Jennifer LaPorta Baker, Esq., Joseph S. Sileo, Esq. and Jennifer J. Walsh, Esq. The second hour was Survival 101: Emergency Planning For Your Law Practice presented by Ellen Freedman, DLM, Law Practice Management Coordinator of the Pennsylvania Bar Association. The final session was a Judicial Forum/Update delivered by The Lackawanna County Court of Common Pleas. The Honorable Harold A. Thomson was presented with a plaque in appreciation for service to Lackawanna County. The conference was followed by a reception. Members attending the Bench Bar Conference earned 3 Free CLE Credits (1 SUB and 2 ETH).
